December 2006 In-Service:

• Check out a fun interactive set of science games at BodyWorks
• Overview of the science probes and software
• Break into small groups and rotate through stations
• Groups include:
• K-1-6
• 2-3
• 3
• 5
• Each group will complete the following at each station
• Comfort yourself with the science probe and how it works
• Gather data which would complete the experiment asked
• Talk about modifications or adaptations for your grade level
• Stations include
• Go Motion: Mapping the ocean floor
• Go Motion: Mapping your own motion
• Go Motion: Air ball experiment or Indy 500 and variable effecting speed of cars
• Temperature: Alka Setzer Experiment
• Temperature: Hot Hands
• Temperature: Insulators: hats, gloves, and jackets
• Heart Rate Monitor: Is your heart rate different while sitting, standing, or lying down?
• Light Sensor: Reflectivity of light from different colored papers
• Force Sensor: How do different surfaces effect the force while dragging a shoe OR How do different soled shoes effect the force while dragging them across the same surface
• Magnetic Sensor: North and South Pole
• Voltage probes: Are Batteries Different
